Main market – Place Jean Yole

This is a non-food market in the historic town centre of Saint Jean de Monts, near the church and next to the food halls.

Twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm, throughout the year, various stallholders and artisans who produce jewellery, clothes, shoes and other wonderful gifts, set up on the Place Jean Yole around the covered market in the town centre and they make your stroll around the market a real treat.

Come along and discover some of the simple pleasures that you dream about throughout the year.

  • Your wicker picnic basket
  • Some jewellery made by a local artisan

In short, there are just so many souvenirs and keepsakes to choose from which help to make your holiday truly memorable.

Town Centre covered market

Food market which takes place near the church in the historic town centre of Saint Jean de Monts, on Wednesday and Saturday off-season and every day from 1st April to 30th September and from 17th October to 1st November from 8 am to 1 pm.

An unmissable opportunity to:

  • Fill your picnic baskets with good local produce
  • Try out our local specialities which may be unfamiliar
  • Chat with the friendly local producers who are passionate about their products

You will find the following at this market:

  • Fruits and vegetables grown by local  producers – one of whom is an organic farmer
  • Cheese made using cows, goats and sheep milk
  • Breads, pastries, classic cakes and patisserie, Vendée specialities such as ‘flan maraîchins’ and ‘brioche’
  • Meat
  • Poultry from Challans (quality seal)
  • Fish caught along our coastline
  • Oysters from Bouin or the Bay of Bourgneuf, shellfish, mussels
  • Honey
  • Salt from Noirmoutier
  • Vendée wines and Troussepinette

The Demoiselles market

Food and non-food market which takes place in the very popular area of Les Demoiselles.

Twice every week during the summer – on Monday and Thursday mornings from 8 am to 1 pm from 2nd July to 31st August – the producers and stall holders take their places in the roads which are pedestrianised for the occasion.

Avenue de la Plage – Saint Jean de Monts

The covered market in the beach area

Food market which takes place on the Place du Marché Couvert de la Plage.

Every morning from 8 am to 1 pm in summer from 1st July to 31st August, the producers and stall holders invade the halls of the “Marché Couvert de la Plage” and the square of the same name.

Avenue des Demoiselles – Saint Jean de Monts

Evening market

A small non-food market on the Place du marché couvert de la plage.

A selection of artisans and stall holders set up every evening from 8 pm to midnight from 1st July to 31st August on this square.

From Avenue de la Mer where you will have had a dinner and then tried out some chichis, keep walking a bit further down to this square and enjoy the comedy shows, acrobats or musicians who put on a show on certain evenings as part of the Festival La Déferlante (Festival of street theatre).
