A traditional little coastal village

Views across the bay and romantic marshland.

Main attractions

Porteau lock: The Taillée Canal, with the elegant plaice-fisheries along its banks, the Porteau lock and play area, is dotted with fishing boats at the unspoilt little port of Pont Neuf. Each boat has a wooden landing stage, with a bird perched on top of each post.

Beachfront promenade: The little pedestrian beachfront promenade bordered on one side by unusual-looking villas. On the other side, the mysterious 4 Aces shipwrecks and the coast of Noirmoutier.

La Grande Côte beach: The spectacular bay of La Grande Côte beach and the dune path. A wild curving beach, forming a majestic gateway to Fromentine.

Oyster farming trail: Discover the real oyster-farming experience. Meet the oyster farmers and owners of the oyster and seafood shacks. Buy the shellfish to take away, or enjoy on the spot, taking in the unique view over the oyster beds.

Countryside and forest

Pey de la Blet: It can be reached on foot or by bike following the path from the Lighthouse to Pey de la Blet. Tree-top panoramas from the forest.

Countryside and marshland
