LA BARRE-DE-MONTS

Description

By following this trail, you'll discover some of the must-see places in La Barre de Monts.
From the small Fromentine lighthouse, head for the imposing Noirmoutier bridge and the superb Grande Côte beach. Then, the dune gradually gives way to the state-owned forest, calm and peaceful… until you reach Pey de la Blet, a stairway into the sky at the top of which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the forest, the ocean, the islands and the marsh. It’s at this point that you’ll be overwhelmed by a feeling of well-being, of being as small as a child in the midst of these dazzling landscapes.
For those of you who are more passionate, those who want to go further and discover all the secrets of the history of Fromentine, this small village marked by its maritime culture, we suggest you follow the trail provided by “Guy Tessier’s Diary”. Page by page, step by step, this former worker at the Fromentine cannery will tell you all about his history and his daily life in La Barre de Monts in the last century. The booklet is on sale at the Tourist Office.
Please note: blue zone parking at the lighthouse, limited to 3 hours.
