Detailed itinerary
Description
When you think of the Saint Jean de Monts region, you inevitably think of its extensive beaches and the pleasure (past or future) of treading that fine sand. But did you know that behind this huge sandbox lies a superb national forest? When the heat is on your towel or the wind is blowing under your parasol, come and cool off or take shelter under the maritime pines and holm oaks.
The lookout trail will give you a great overview of the Pays de Monts forest, which covers more than 2,260 hectares. Guided by the long-sighted symbol, you climb up to the Buzelière lookout, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the ocean (the beach is never far away!) and the golf course, which you will then walk alongside.
Because children hate long walks, or because you’re only in Saint Jean de Monts for 24 hours, the sentier de la Vigie is just the thing! With its 3.5 km of safe, shaded paths, the walk can be completed in just over an hour. It’s a gentle woodland interlude in your day, leaving you plenty of time for a whole host of other activities.
