Sentier de la dune au marais
Detailed itinerary
Description
The beach and its mythical Pont d'Yeu, the dune belt and its fragile flora, the national forest and the vast Marais Breton Vendéen are just some of the environments you'll discover along this 5km trail, in the communes of Notre Dame de Monts and Saint Jean de Monts.
Sand grains will give way to gravel, pine needles to bales of straw and the ocean to streams… This succession of landscapes is partly man-made. The state forest was planted by man in the mid-nineteenth century. The market garden land was threatened by silting. The plantations helped to fix the dune and protect the houses.
