Description

It's best to set off on the trail at low tide. That's when the Pont d'Yeu comes into view, allowing you to take full advantage of all the trail has to offer.
Departing from Notre Dame de Monts, this trail takes you along the dune path. After a 3-kilometre run, you’ll discover the Pont d’Yeu site. After skirting its famous beach, you’ll pass the Saint Jean de Monts racecourse. The route then enters the forest. The shady paths take you back to Notre Dame de Monts.

Step 1: Le Pont d'Yeu

The Pont d'Yeu is a rocky spit that can be partially seen at low tide.
When conditions are optimal, at high tide, it can extend up to 4 km towards the Ile d’Yeu. It’s a real boon for anglers, who don’t want to miss out on any of the action!
The Pont d’Yeu is also the source of a diabolical legend. Saint Martin wanted to go and preach the Gospel on the island of Yeu, so the Devil promised to build him a bridge before the cock crowed. To gain time, the Devil got the animal drunk, thinking this would delay its awakening. The wine had the opposite effect and the cock crowed in the middle of the night! The demons fled, leaving behind them an unfinished bridge…
