ZOMBIE WALK
La Gâterie 17 Place du Marché 85000 LA ROCHE-SUR-YON
Event description
To thank the Cinéma Le Concorde – La Roche sur Yon for their trust, their welcome and their kindness at each of our exhibitions, L'association Transversale proposes to gather around the offbeat conference ROHMERO! on Saturday 13 January at 18H15 in our premises.
(La Gâterie, 17 pl du marché), (Duration: 45min, FREE.).
What is it? During a residency at L’Hotel Pasteur (Rennes), columnist Jules Topok watched the entire filmographies of Rohmer and Romero in order to compare them.
The show will be followed by a costumed Zombie Walk from La Gâterie to Le Concorde cinema, organised by the OFF screen film-lovers’ association.
A zombie walk to bury the old Le Concorde cinema and bring it right back to life!
That’s what the Offscreen association is proposing, with a touch of humour.
This unfailing partner of the town centre cinema screens a genre film at Concorde every month and publishes a quarterly fanzine on offbeat, horror, science fiction and black humour films.
Since Offscreen was founded, we’ve had this idea in mind to screen Romero’s film Zombie and organise a walk dressed up as a zombie: it’s really in our DNA.
Nicolas Le Gleut, one of the founding members of the association
“Moving the Concorde was the perfect opportunity,” adds the film fan.
So it’s this Saturday 13 January, late in the day, that this first-of-its-kind event will take place in La Roche-sur-Yon.
Start at 6pm
The public (children are welcome!) will be invited at 6.15pm for a talk entitled RoHmErO (Rohmer versus Romero) by Professor Topok at the contemporary art gallery at Les Halles, La Gâterie. The lecture will be free and accompanied by hot drinks.
“We’ll be there from 5pm to put make-up on anyone who wants it,” says Nicolas Le Gleut.
A walk “to chase away the zombies
This will be followed by a march from La Gâterie through La Roche-sur-Yon town centre from 7pm. The march will follow the sound bike of the Armaguidon association, “to chase away the zombies”.
The parade will pass through Place Jacques-Chirac and Place Napoléon. There will be photo opportunities in front of the new Concorde, before we return to the old Concorde for a musical aperitif.
Nicolas Le Gleut, one of the organisers
It’s even said that “Napoléon will be zombified”.
At 8pm, film buffs will be welcomed by volunteers from the Festi’Clap association and the manager of the Comme à la radio shop.
Screening of Zombie at Concorde
At 9pm, George A Romera’s masterpiece, Zombie, will be screened at the Concorde on rue Gouvion for €6.50.
The more adventurous will be expected from 11pm for a costumed after-party at the Macumba club next door, to keep the party going until the end of the night.
6.15pm – Rohmero lecture at La Gâterie
8pm – Aperitif DJ SET at Le Concorde cinema
9.00 pm – Zombie film by George A. Romero
23h00 – After party at Macumba
