Bouquets and vegetables illustrated from life, herbariums and alguiers composed in the 19th century, underwater landscapes by Nicolas Floc'h, strange blooms by Clément Richem, photographs of edibles by Sachiko Morita and facetious bouquets by Sébastien Gouju… Like a cabinet of curiosities, the exhibition brings together Mirabilia (marvels or admirable things), reminding us of what is rare, unusual and precious about nature. More than 90 photographs, installations, videos, herbariums… give us a glimpse of a nature that is both real and fantasised.
To raise awareness and respect and engender a desire to take care, Mirabilia instils the notion of treasure, even wonder, in the face of the things of nature.
Free admission from 30 March to 19 May 2024
Tuesday to Saturday, 1 pm to 6 pm (closed on 1 May, 8 May and 9 May),
Groups welcome Tuesday to Friday, 9.30 am to 12 pm, by prior arrangement.
Guided tours on Saturdays 13, 27 April and 11 May, from 2 pm to 2.45 pm.
Flash tours of the Mirabilia exhibition, Saturday 18 May, from 7pm to 10pm, as part of the Nuit des Musées.
Family workshop visit, Friday 26 April, 10am to 11am and 11am to 12pm: Budding botanists. Booking essential with the CYEL contemporary art space.
