Louis Vierne (Poitiers 1870 – Paris 1937) : Second symphony for organ, op. 20

Philippe Lefebvre (Roubaix 1949): Improvised symphony in four movements
Philippe Lefebvre discovered the organ at the age of 15 with the great organ of Notre-Dame de Paris, where he met the famous organist Pierre Cochereau. Organist at Arras Cathedral at the age of 19, he won the Grand Prix for improvisation at the Chartres International Organ Competition in 1973 and went on to become organist at this prestigious cathedral.
In 1985 he was appointed titular organist of the great organ of Notre-Dame de Paris, a post he shares with Olivier Latry and Vincent Dubois. He gives concerts and masterclasses in Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, the United States, South America and Japan.
Director of the Lille Conservatoire from 1980 to 2003, he taught organ improvisation at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris from 2002 to 2014. Philippe Lefebvre is president of the Association des Grandes Orgues de Chartres and founding president of the national association Orgue en France. In 2021, Philippe Lefebvre will take part in the inauguration of the Fossaert organ in Vouvant.
