About us
Déambul takes you to the heart of the Marais Breton Vendéen.
Meet at Signal rue de la maison blanche in Le Perrier. Accompanied by your guide, you’ll walk through the charming little town until you reach the étier de la Taillée. Put on a lifejacket (for safety reasons) and climb aboard a yawl: you’re all set for a magical and unusual experience.
While the yawl is a great way to discover the marshes from a different angle, it was once a real means of transport. The inhabitants (the maraîchins) used it to get around when their land was flooded in winter.
Gently guided by the yoleur with his ningle (a long wooden pole), you will travel on this small flat-bottomed boat along the “étiers” (streams) that are the very essence of the marsh. These channels criss-cross the wet meadows and give this natural environment a very special atmosphere. Observe the special flora and fauna, let yourself be carried away and savour the precious tranquillity… Sitting in the skiff, you’ll enjoy an unparalleled view of the marsh, right on the water.
If you want to enjoy the tranquillity a little longer, Déambul offers you the chance to continue the experience with a horse-drawn carriage ride. The lapping of the water gives way to the rhythmic music of the horses’ hooves.
While the yawl and the horse-drawn carriage invite you to relax, these two old-fashioned modes of transport also encourage conviviality. Your yoleur and your coachman will be delighted to tell you some of the secrets of the Marais Breton Vendéen.
On Tuesday evenings in July and August, it’s party time with the summer events at Le Perrier! Free concerts and shows are on offer. On Friday evenings, it’s the turn of the twilight walks. The soft light at the end of the day offers a completely different landscape and invites you to take a different look at this somewhat mysterious marshland.
A final word of advice: don’t hesitate to cycle to the site. Déambul has been awarded the Accueil Vélo label. With your legs rested and your mind at rest, you’ll have all the energy you need to set off again on the Vendée Vélo trails at the end of your visit.
1 yawl can accommodate: 4 adults + 1 child (aged 3 to 5) max.
Booking essential.
