Salt marsh Le Breuil
Spectacle de Marionnettes les mardis 8 et 15 Août 2023 à 17h. Tarif : 5€ Réservation conseillée.
Analia and Julien are a Franco-Argentinian couple, independent salt merchants in the Baie de Bourgneuf, Vendée.
Their cultivation is located in the middle of the Breton Vendéen marshes, in an exceptional site rated “Natura 2000” and well-known for its exceptional fauna and flora.
Their marsh is situated in Beauvoir sur Mer, just next to the famous “Passage du Gois”, liable to flooding road which joins Noirmoutier with the continent. This salt marsh is a part of land taken on the sea in the Middle Ages, creating cultivatable soil and salt marshes. Seawalls have been built, forming a rampart facing sea’s assaults.
Their marsh was created over 150 years ago, then abandoned in the 70’s before being restored ten years ago. The salorge was built a hundred years ago, and renovated in 2020, in respect of the tradition and architecture.
Analia and Julien organise guided tours (possible in English and Spanish), the discovery and tasting of savage edible plants, and also the direct selling of their products.
Come and discover the salt marshes’ fauna and flora, as well as its functioning. Far from the road, surrounded by greenery, the nature will dictate its rhythm!
Visits every day except Sunday, at 11am and 4pm (depending on the weather). Paying theme visits on reservation are done on summer nights.
Sale of coarse salt, fleur de sel, flavoured salt and halophile plants.
