MAMMAL HANDS + PEGGY BUARD & EMILIE CHEVILLARD

QUAI M 94 Boulevard du Maréchal Leclerc 85000 LA ROCHE-SUR-YON

Event description

MAMMAL HANDS :

Fascinated by electronic, contemporary, folk, jazz and world music, the three musicians draw their influences from Pharaoah Sanders, Gétachèw Mekurya, Terry Riley, Steve Reich and Sirishkumar Manji. Bewitching and charming on their albums, Mammal Hands are captivating during their hypnotic concerts, which always seem to take the group further and further.

Basing their approach on lengthy improvised rehearsals, the three members of the band contribute equally to the writing process, which fosters a collective dynamic that transcends individualities.
Their 5th studio album, Gift From the Trees, offers a fresh perspective on their music. The album is the result of a residency in the Welsh countryside, during which the band took advantage of their isolation to seek a deeper, more organic experience.
More connected to the improvisation that is part of their identity and the trance they experience live, Jordan Smart, Nick Smart and Jesse Barrett once again plunge us into a captivating universe.

PEGGY BUARD & EMILIE CHEVILLARD :

Plucked, struck, hammered, rubbed or intertwined, over a hundred strings resonate under the ten fingers of Peggy Buard and Emilie Chevillard. The two musicians take advantage of the similarities and differences between their two instruments to create a spellbinding soundscape. The duo’s compositions and improvisations are the terrain for explorations in which the timbres of the chromatic harp and the piano intermingle. This is intimate, open jazz, where the freedom of improvisation produces mirages and blurs the boundaries between the two instruments. If the eye is not fooled, the ear is sometimes fooled…
