Fête du Timbre 2024
Salle des fêtes des Clouzeaux 11 Rue des Sports 85430 AUBIGNY-LES CLOUZEAUX
Event description
La Poste will be issuing two stamps on the theme of navigation (river or sea), with a 1st day cancellation valid only on 9 and 10 March.
This will also be the Vendée Philatelic Championship. Collections will be judged and medals awarded.
Weather permitting, the Amicale will be organising a mail transport on the Les Clouzeaux lake on 9 March at 2.30pm. Dominique Pasquier, a former postman and creator of model boats, will sail a model ship with the mail handed in by visitors and schoolchildren. The mail will be given an additional stamp: “First mail transport on the Clouzeaux lake”.
Volunteers from the association visited CM1 and CM2 classes at the Jean de la Fontaine and Sainte-Marie schools, to present the role of the postage stamp, its educational potential (in particular knowledge of history and geography), its fun aspect, and the republican character of the stamp through the figure of Marianne.
Following this presentation, the children were invited to create a drawing, either on the theme of sport (the year of the Olympic Games), or around a stamp representing a boat. All the drawings will be exhibited in the Salle des Fêtes in Les Clouzeaux, where children can collect a diploma and gifts (stamp packs, clips, booklets, etc.).
The children have also been invited to write a postcard, which will be cancelled with the special postmark, transported to the lake and then delivered by La Poste to its addressee (or given to the school).
A stand for young people will be in operation throughout the weekend, with games for participants and prizes to be won.
Other fun and educational activities will round off this major event, a not-to-be-missed rendezvous for all collectors in the Vendée, including the presence of a stamp and collectible material dealer, and the La Poste stand, which will be selling the latest philatelic creations from La Poste, including the “Pokemon” postage stamp issued on 28 February: a stamp not to be missed, depicting the famous Pikachu.
The event opens at 11am on Saturday 9 March.
