Juan de la Rubia trained at the conservatoires of Valencia and Barcelona, the University of the Arts in Berlin and the conservatoire of Toulouse. He has won numerous prizes, including the Eurovision National Prize for Young Spanish Musicians, the Prize of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Granada, and the Prize of the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. He performs in the greatest concert halls as a soloist and with orchestra: Auditorio Nacional de Musica de Madrid, Konzerthaus de Berlin, Gewandhaus de Leipzig, Elbphilharmonie de Hambourg, Philharmonie de Saint-Pétersbourg; the cathedrals of Cologne, Westminster, Bogota, Mexico, the church of Saint-Sulpice in Paris. His repertoire ranges from early music to works by contemporary composers. Between 2014 and 2016, he performed Bach’s complete works for organ in Madrid and Barcelona.
Juan de la Rubias is titular organist at Barcelona’s famous Sagrada Familia and professor of improvisation at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya. He is regularly invited to give master classes in Stuttgart, Budapest and Rome.
