Afrobeat, jazz, pop, electro, rock, hip hop or ska, Fatoumata never stops exploring, but it's in the pentatonic scale that the magic happens, faithful to the traditional Mandingo register that she has revisited since her musical beginnings. She gives us a foretaste of this with the single Nsera ("Destination"), accompanied by an explosive video directed by Grégory Ohrel. With this first single, she has definitively joined the Afrofuturist movement, and taken her place among the leaders of a resourceful Africa.
All these experiences, in their own way, have helped to shape the singer’s voice and forge her own musical identity, which reaches its apogee in London Ko. This new album offers a prophetic vision of what Africa can do by inventing an alternative, inclusive space-time, where people can become masters of their own destiny. Angie Stone, Roberto Fonseca, -M- and Damon Albarn are all part of the adventure to forge a new world. By taking care of the form, the artist participates not only in taking care of the world but also in taking care of her ancestors, because for Fatoumata Diawara, everything is linked.
