Championnat de France de Char à Voile

The Saint Jean Vent d'Estran association is organising the sand yacht Grand Prix on the beaches of Saint Jean de Monts, including the Promo and 7 classes, as part of the French Sand Yacht Championships.

This event will welcome the best pilots from all over France, including world champions Amaury Martin and Clara Hautecoeur in the Promo class, and Antoine Lecordier in class 7.

Around 60 drivers will be competing in the Promo class, where floats can reach speeds of around 100 km/h depending on wind conditions. The Speedsail (Class 7), which resembles a sand windsurf, is expected to attract between 20 and 25 drivers, with speeds of up to 80 km/h.

The races will take place on the Grande Plage between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The classes will race alternately, with 30-minute heats for the Promo classes and 15-minute heats for the Class 7s.

The courses will be 1.5 km long and will vary according to the state of the terrain and the dynamism desired by the race director. A minimum wind speed of 15 km/h will be required to launch the races, which will determine the success of the event.

The prize-giving ceremony will take place at the Base Nautique around 4pm at the end of the weekend.
