Archives workshops
The next thematic workshop organised by the Archives de la Vendée on Tuesday 26 March, from 5pm to 6.30pm, will be devoted to the maritime registration rolls.
Kept in Rochefort by the Service historique de la Défense, these documents trace the careers of thousands of Vendée sailors from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 20th. They are now available online at the Archives de la Vendée website.
How did maritime registration work? What information can be found in these registers? How can a sailor’s career be reconstructed? These are just some of the questions we will be answering during the workshop.
