The Spirulinerie is a traditional aquaculture farm nestling in a natural environment rich in exceptional flora and fauna.
It’s located in the Marais Breton Vendéen, in the commune of Bouin: a fantastic opportunity to discover this area, which is closely linked to salt production and the Atlantic Ocean (the Port du Collet and Port du Bec are a must-see!). It is the joint project of enthusiasts who grow and sell natural French organic spirulina in flakes (or twigs), as well as other spirulina-based products. Their paths have converged around a common idea: to produce and sell quality Artisanal Spirulina, using short distribution channels and direct sales.
The team at La Spirulinerie also want to promote knowledge of this cyanobacteria and awareness of the natural world around us, hence the educational tours offered at the farm every Wednesday. If you book in advance, you can spend around thirty minutes enjoying technical, historical and entertaining explanations of all the stages involved in raising and producing spirulina.
